Good News from Littleport WI

After a good start to our year in January with Heather Gee, this was followed in February by a quiz evening with Quiz Master Peter Allen. After lots of laughs and fun, the winners were the team Ancient & Modern rewarded with a presentation plate and some chocolate.

Unfortunately, in March, our scheduled speaker was unavailable to speak at this time, so we decided to stay in house and invite members to talk about their school days. This was certainly enlightening, funny and very interesting.

Alas once again, our April planned speaker had a family commitment, but we were very fortunate to be able to call on Siobhan Carew, who is a local author of mainly crime stories using her local knowledge.

She gave us an insight with the world of writing and publishing. Inspirational and entertaining, very amusing and she held our interest throughout.

Our forthcoming speakers for June and July will talk about Top Spin Tennis and Farming in The Fens.

In August, the meeting will be open to the public. The speaker will be Sue Slack from March, her subject being Votes for Women in Cambridgeshire.

To tie in with this and the Centenary of Votes for Women, we are having a display in Adam’s Heritage Centre windows in conjunction with the Field Theatre during the first few weeks of August. Details to come via posters in the village.
